Barcelona star Lionel Messi was left with a deep scar on his leg after a horror tackle by Sevilla's Diego Carlos during their 0-0 draw on June 19, 2020, at the Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
Photos taken during training have revealed the extent of the injury, which could have been much worse if not for Messi's luck.
Messi was looking to score the 700th goal of his career during the game but was fairly subdued, with his only notable contribution being a first-half free-kick that was headed off the line.
However, the tackle by Carlos left Messi with a nasty gash on his leg, which he was lucky to avoid a serious injury from.
Barcelona missed the chance to go five points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table, and Los Blancos now have the opportunity to draw level on points with their bitter rivals when they take on Real Sociedad on Saturday.
Speaking after the draw, Barcelona manager Quique Setien said, "We were very confident because we had 30 very good minutes at the beginning of the game and then we got messy. In the second half, we lost balls that gave them life."
