Tanzanian Artists Get into Politics with Music

Music has long been a part of politics in Africa, and Tanzania is no exception. In recent times, Bongo artists have found a way to incorporate politics into their music, with some even creating remixes to praise the incumbent President John Pombe Magufuli.

As the November 2020 general elections approach, several artists have released songs in support of President Magufuli's re-election campaign. The songs highlight the government's achievements and drum up support for the president's leadership.

One of the notable artists supporting President Magufuli is Diamond Platinumz, who has been leading the WCB crew in praising the president's developments. The crew has released several hit songs, including 'Tanzania ya Sasa' by Zuchu and 'Tamba Magufuli' by Mbosso, which have become popular among the public.

These songs have been widely played during political rallies, with Zuchu's 'Tanzania ya Sasa' being considered the ultimate song before Mbosso's 'Tamba Magufuli' and other songs follow. The WCB crew's support for President Magufuli has overshadowed Konde Gang's Harmonize, who was the first to release a song in support of the president, titled 'CCM'.

Despite Harmonize's recognition by the President and his invitation to run for a parliamentary seat, the WCB crew's dominance in the music industry has proven that they are the kings of the game.
