On June 22, 2020, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Co-operatives Chief Administrative Secretary Anne Nyaga visited Kiambu County to discuss the government's commitment to supporting youth in agribusiness.

Ms. Nyaga emphasized that food security and nutrition cannot be achieved without the engagement of the youth, citing the significant opportunities in agriculture for job creation and employment.

She highlighted the ministry's efforts to roll out programs that will help the youth access markets, affordable financing, and information and knowledge.

Ms. Nyaga stated that the ministry is keen to foster participation of youth in agriculture and has developed programs that will ease access to land, financing, mechanization, and knowledge among the youth.

During the visit, she met with Kiambu Governor James Nyoro and emphasized the importance of working with county governments to implement programs that will see more youths engage in agriculture.

Young entrepreneurs like Francis Mwaura and George Charagwa, who rear pigs and cows and farm crops, are already reaping the benefits of agribusiness. They encourage more youths to venture into agriculture, citing its potential to provide millions of jobs for the unemployed and underemployed youth.
