Opposition leader Raila Odinga has been the subject of speculation after rumors emerged that he had been flown to China for medical treatment.

However, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has come out to deny these claims, stating that they are nothing but fictitious news.

According to ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale, Raila Odinga is actually in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, attending a virtual Pan African Conference on the Grand Inga Dam in his capacity as the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa.

Etale clarified that the project aims to unlock the world's largest hydropower scheme and is part of the vision to develop a continental power system that is key to Africa's manufacturing and value addition ambitions.

“Ignore the fake news. It is the work of sick people who have run out of ideas. Ends,” Etale stated.
