On June 22, 2020, Kenya marked 100 days since the first COVID-19 case was reported in the country. The milestone coincided with a significant increase in infections, with 260 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.
The new cases, from 3,561 samples, comprised 254 Kenyans and six foreigners, with 176 males and 84 females affected.
Of the new cases, Nairobi accounted for 157, Mombasa 43, and Kwale 15.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced the new cases during a daily briefing, stating that the youngest case was a seven-month-old baby and the oldest a 90-year-old.
Additionally, Kagwe reported that 21 more patients had been discharged from various testing facilities across the country, while two fatalities had been recorded, bringing the total to 123 deaths.
