Published on June 22, 2020, the Ministry of Health reported 104 new COVID-19 cases in Kenya, bringing the total number of reported infections to 4,478.
The new cases were detected from 2,820 samples analyzed in a 24-hour period, with a year-old child among the infected.
According to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman, all the new cases arose from Kenyans, with men accounting for most cases at 76.
The cases are distributed across various counties, including Nairobi (60), Mombasa (33), Kilifi (5), Busia (3), Kajiado (2), and Taita Taveta (1).
Breakdown of cases by county:
- Nairobi: 60 cases, distributed in Langata (22), Kibra (19), Westlands (11), Starehe (3), Dagoretti North (2), Embakasi South (1), Kasarani (1), and Embakasi East (1)
- Mombasa: 33 cases, reported in Changamwe (13), Mvita (8), Kisauni (5), Jomvu (4), Likoni (2), and Nyali (1)
- Kilifi: 5 cases, reported in Rabai
- Busia: 3 cases, traced to Matayos (2) and Teso South (1)
- Kajiado: 2 cases, reported from Loitoktok
- Taita Taveta: 1 case, registered in Taveta
As of Saturday, a total of 136,361 coronavirus samples had been tested in the country, with 121 COVID-19 deaths reported and 1,586 patients discharged after recovering from the disease.
