On Monday, June 22, 2020, Amani National Congress (ANC) Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi hosted the Kenya Women Teachers Association (KEWOTA) at the Musalia Mudavadi Centre to address the rising cases of teenage pregnancies.

Mudavadi took to Facebook to confirm the meeting and expressed his support for the education sector, stating, "Today I held a meeting with the Kenya Women Teachers Association (KEWOTA) Leaders. I affirmed my support for the Kenyan Teachers and the Education Sector at large."

KEWOTA expressed concerns over the reported rise in teenage pregnancies and called for parents to take their parenting role seriously. The association also emphasized the need to address the country's economic challenges.

During the meeting, KEWOTA presented Mudavadi with solutions to teenage pregnancies, including multiple messaging campaigns, countrywide workshops, and awareness programs on sexuality. They also proposed the establishment of a Ministry to cater for family and gender affairs, using the Nyumba Kumi model.

KEWOTA's proposed program, Sexuality Education, Mentorship for Adolescents (SEMA), aims to cost Ksh. 12 million for a period of eight months. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha questioned the numbers on teenage pregnancies during his tour at Rivatex in Eldoret on the same day.
