On June 22, 2020, the Kenyan government announced 59 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of positive cases to 4,797. This comes after 2,354 people were tested in the last 24 hours.
According to Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, 73 people have been discharged after full recovery, taking the total recoveries to 1,680.
Unfortunately, two patients have succumbed to the virus, bringing the total number of deaths to 125.
As of day 101 since the first cases were announced, 142,366 people have been tested, with the government enhancing measures to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus.
Of the 59 new cases, 47 are male, 12 are female, with the youngest being 7 years old and the oldest being 67 years old.
The distribution of cases across counties is as follows: Nairobi has 28 cases, Mombasa has 21, Kilifi has 3, Kiambu and Machakos have 2 cases each, while Bungoma, Uasin Gishu, and Kisii have 1 case each.
Within Nairobi, the distribution of cases across sub-counties is as follows: Dagoretti North has 7 cases, Kibra has 5, Embakasi East has 4, Embakasi North has 3, Westlands has 3, Embakasi West has 2, Embakasi Central has 2, Roysambu and Makadara have 1 case each.
In Mombasa, the distribution of cases across sub-counties is as follows: Kisauni has 8 cases, Likoni has 5, Mvita has 3, Nyali has 2, Changamwe has 2, and Jomvu has 1.
