Published on June 22, 2020, Rue Baby, the daughter of Kenyan artiste Akothee, has spoken out about her struggles with body insecurities due to her petite frame.

According to Rue, she faced ridicule and name-calling as a child, but she refused to let it get to her.

“Growing up I never really appreciated being called thin or sticks. I had a hard time accepting my body the way it is. But then I realized its what is unique about me and I started loving it. so about your various body insecurities just own them and love them.” — Rue Baby

Today, many women are working out to achieve a similar physique, which Rue Baby once struggled with.

Other petite women have shared their own experiences of being called names and struggling with body image issues.

Marion Atieno, for instance, recalls being called “anakonda” due to her thin frame, and feeling unloved and unwanted by her family.

However, Marion has since learned to love and accept herself, and now walks proudly, knowing that she has a body that many women desire.
