On June 22, 2020, a tragic incident occurred at a home in Butere, where a 15-year-old Form 2 student, Emmanuel Okwako, allegedly killed his 10-year-old brother.
The incident was sparked by a disagreement over stolen maize from their farm, which the younger brother had sold to a neighbor for Ksh.50.
According to reports, the younger brother had fled the scene after selling the maize, but later returned to their home, where he was confronted by his elder brother.
During the ensuing scuffle, Okwako allegedly used physical force, resulting in the death of his younger brother.
The body of the deceased was later found near their house, and Okwako was taken into custody by police officers from Butere police station for further investigation.
