Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto Defy COVID-19 Rules at Jubilee Party Meeting

On June 22, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto led a gathering of Jubilee Party members at the KICC, defying COVID-19 restrictions.

According to sources, the two leaders had been warned by Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe to adhere to the rules and avoid large gatherings, but they chose to ignore the advice.

As a result, the meeting was attended by 174 members of the Jubilee Party, including those who support Ruto's faction.

Despite the warnings, the meeting went ahead, with the two leaders addressing the gathering and urging the members to put aside their differences and work together.

However, the meeting was not without controversy, as some members of the public criticized the leaders for flouting the COVID-19 rules.

Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe had previously warned that anyone found violating the rules would be held accountable, and the public was urged to report any instances of non-compliance.

It is worth noting that the meeting was not the first time that the Jubilee Party leaders had been accused of flouting COVID-19 rules. In the past, they had been criticized for holding large gatherings and ignoring the advice of health experts.

Despite the controversy, the meeting was seen as a significant development in the Jubilee Party's efforts to strengthen its leadership and prepare for the upcoming elections.

As the country continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, the actions of the Jubilee Party leaders have raised concerns about the impact of their decisions on the public health.

It remains to be seen how the situation will unfold and what consequences the leaders will face for their actions.
