June 22, 2020, marked a significant day in Kenya's political landscape as President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Adan Keynan as the new Secretary to the Jubilee Coalition. However, this appointment has raised eyebrows due to Keynan's dark past.
Keynan, a member of parliament for Eldas, has been accused of murder in the past. Court documents reveal that he was charged with the murder of three Somali men in 2003. The men were allegedly lured out of their homes and shot by Keynan, who then had their bodies dumped in a forest in Ngong.
According to documents shared by Boniface Mwangi, a political activist, the men were killed after a piece of land Keynan was selling in Nairobi for Ksh 34 million turned out to be fake. Despite the evidence, Justice Kalpana Rawal acquitted Keynan of the charges in November 2005, citing a lack of sufficient evidence.
Keynan's appointment has sparked outrage, with many questioning the president's decision to appoint someone with such a history. In 2015, Keynan moved a bill that proposed punishing journalists who wrote stories deemed libellous or scandalous, as well as those who protested against MPs' actions.
As the news of Keynan's appointment spreads, many are left wondering how someone with such a dark past can be entrusted with a position of power.
