On Monday, June 22, 2020, the Jubilee Party's parliamentary group meeting at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) lasted for less than 30 minutes.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and party secretary-general Raphael Tuju addressed the meeting, which was attended by all members of parliament from the Jubilee Party.
Deputy President William Ruto, however, sat silently as the names of the new National Assembly leaders were being read, including the removal of Garissa Township MP Aden Duale from the majority leader position, who was replaced by former Trade and Finance minister Amos Kimunya.
After serving as majority leader since 2013, Duale's loyalty to DP William Ruto has cost him his position in the National Assembly.
Some netizens were quick to take one of his famous quotes and replaced it with 'hii chama si ya mama yako.'
President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived at the meeting a few minutes to 10am, and the head of state made his way into the venue where one of the lawmakers prayed before the meeting started.
Tuju took over the programme and read the agenda before inviting the president who told the MPs about the changes being made in the party's National Assembly leadership.
He then repeated that he was creating harmony in the party and wanted to work with those supporting him. He left the room with the meeting having lasted for barely 22 minutes.
