On June 22, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Coalition made significant changes to its leadership during a parliamentary group meeting at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
Despite the presence of Deputy President William Ruto, who arrived almost an hour before President Kenyatta, the meeting saw the ouster of Majority Leader Aden Duale, a staunch ally of Ruto.
According to sources, Duale's removal was a result of a petition signed by over 130 MPs who accused him of sabotaging the Jubilee agenda.
The changes were read out by Jubilee Majority Whip Emmanuel Wangwe, with Amos Kimunya being appointed as the new Majority Leader and Aden Keynan as the new Coalition Secretary.
The meeting lasted approximately 30 minutes, with no speeches or questions.
DP Ruto's presence at the meeting was notable, but his allies were noticeably absent.
