On June 22, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta led a Jubilee Coalition Parliamentary Group meeting that saw significant changes to the leadership team.

Aden Duale, the former Majority Leader, was ousted from his position, and Amos Kimunya, the Kipipiri Member of Parliament, was appointed as the new Majority Leader.

Keynan was also appointed as the new Coalition Secretary.

The changes were announced by Jubilee Majority Whip Emmanuel Wangwe, who read out the new leadership structure as soon as President Kenyatta entered the meeting.

Notably, Deputy President William Ruto was present at the meeting, but MPs loyal to him were noticeably absent.

The meeting lasted approximately 30 minutes, with no speeches or questions.

Aden Duale's ouster was reportedly due to a petition from over 130 MPs who accused him of sabotaging the Jubilee agenda.

Earlier, Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe had warned members of dire consequences if they failed to attend the meeting, citing the Jubilee Party Act.

Members who missed a previous PG at State House, mainly nominated Senators, had faced disciplinary action.

President Kenyatta's move is seen as a bid to consolidate power ahead of the 2022 presidential election, following the loss of grip on the current party.
