President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Coalition has undergone significant changes, with Aden Duale being removed as Majority Leader of the National Assembly on June 22, 2020.

According to sources, the changes were made during a Jubilee Coalition Parliamentary Group meeting chaired by President Kenyatta, with Duale being replaced by Kipipiri Member of Parliament Amos Kimunya as the new Majority Leader.

Aden Keynan has taken over as the new Coalition Secretary, replacing Duale in the role.

The changes were announced by Jubilee Majority Whip Emmanuel Wangwe, who read out the new appointments as soon as President Kenyatta entered the meeting.

Notably, Deputy President William Ruto was present at the meeting, but his loyal MPs were noticeably absent.

The move comes after a petition from over 130 MPs accused Duale of sabotaging the Jubilee agenda.

Earlier, Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe had warned members of dire consequences if they failed to attend the meeting, stating that disciplinary actions would be taken against those who deviated from the party's fundamental requirements.

Some MPs loyal to Deputy President Ruto, including Nakuru's Kimani Ngunjiri, had indicated that they would stay away from the meeting, citing disloyalty and insubordination.

Analysts have interpreted the move as a scheme by Ruto to organize himself ahead of the 2022 presidential election, having lost grip of the current party which gave them power.
