Published on June 22, 2020, Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has sparked debate with his suggestion that President Uhuru Kenyatta could continue serving the country as Prime Minister after his retirement in 2022.
Speaking on K24's Punchline, Kalonzo emphasized the need for President Uhuru Kenyatta's continued involvement in the country's leadership, stating, 'President Uhuru Kenyatta will not just vanish in the thin air. We still need him around even after 2022. Even as the country's Prime Minister.'
Wiper Party has formed a post-poll coalition pact with the ruling Jubilee Party, an agreement also signed by Gideon Moi's KANU. This alliance brings together Jubilee, Wiper, and KANU parties.
According to sources, President Uhuru Kenyatta does not intend to extend his term limit but could potentially serve the country in a different capacity from the presidency, as allowed by the constitution.
