Kenya has marked a grim milestone in its fight against COVID-19, with the country recording the highest number of new cases in a single day. According to the Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, Sunday marked the 100th day since the first case of coronavirus was confirmed in the country, on March 13, 2020.

The youngest person to contract the virus is just 7 months old, while the oldest is 90 years old. The new cases were distributed across various counties, with Nairobi recording the highest number of cases at 157, followed by Mombasa with 42 cases.
Unfortunately, the new cases have also led to two more fatalities, raising the number of deaths to 123. However, 21 people have been discharged from various health facilities after recovering from the respiratory disease, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,607.
Speaking on the new figures, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe emphasized the importance of observing containment measures to fight the disease. He noted that COVID-19 will be with us for longer and will stretch our healthcare system, making it our personal responsibility to ensure we observe the containment measures.
Mr. Kagwe also revealed that COVID-19 has affected the mental health of several people, causing anxiety after the government imposed health guidelines such as those restricting social gathering.
