Kenya Records Highest COVID-19 Cases Amid 100-Day Pandemic Mark

On Sunday, Kenya's Ministry of Health recorded 260 confirmed cases of COVID-19, the highest number in 24 hours, bringing the total tally to 4738. This milestone comes as the country marks 100 days since it reported its first COVID-19 case in early March.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the 260 confirmed cases comprise 254 Kenyans and six foreigners. The cases were identified from 3651 samples taken for testing in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of samples tested to 140,012.

Unfortunately, two more patients have succumbed to the virus, increasing the total number of fatalities to 123. On a positive note, 21 patients have been discharged from various facilities in the country, bringing the total tally of recoveries to 1609.

Breaking down the distribution of cases by county, Nairobi leads with 157 cases, followed by Mombasa with 42, and Kwale with 15. Other counties with reported cases include Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado, Migori, Nakuru, Busia, Homabay, Kilifi, Kisii, Kisumu, Kakamega, and Laikipia.
