Kenya's Covid-19 Cases Surge Past 4700

On June 21, 2020, Kenya recorded 260 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of cases to 4738.

According to the Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, the country has seen a significant increase in cases, with Nairobi leading the way at 157 new cases, followed by Mombasa with 42 cases.

Over the past 24 hours, 3651 samples were tested, and 21 people were discharged from hospitals after full recovery, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1607.

Unfortunately, 2 more people have succumbed to the virus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 123.

The Health CS acknowledged the efforts of various institutions in the wake of the pandemic and expressed hope that all counties will have a minimum of 300 beds within the next 2 weeks.

He also noted that the testing capacity in the country has steadily increased, with 3419 tests conducted in March, 19108 in April, 57506 in May, and 59958 in June.
