On June 21, 2020, Chioma Avril Rowland, the fiancé of Nigerian singer Davido, took to her Instagram account to address allegations of domestic abuse against her partner.
According to reports, Chioma acknowledged that she had been bothered by the claims, which she described as fabrications by bloggers, until they started circulating online.
She stated, 'I know you guys absolutely love to spread all sorts of rumours and stories for your entertainment and I’ve known from day one what to expect from blogs and the internet especially with myself and family being in the public space.'
Chioma went on to emphasize that she has never been a victim of domestic abuse and that the claims could cause harm to her family.
She warned, 'Domestic violence and abuse is no joke and not something to ever take lightly. Never has there ever been an incident of abuse in my home.'
Chioma advised young women not to stay in abusive relationships, stating, 'To the beautiful young ones out there, never ever allow a man to lay his hands on you while you keep quiet. If you were ever to suffer such, ensure you speak up!'
Chioma's statement comes after rumors surfaced that the couple might have called it quits due to alleged infidelity on Davido's part.
