June 21, 2020, marked a significant day for Silas Miami, son of former TV journalist Louis Otieno, as he revealed that he is now happily married to his male partner, Patrick.
According to Silas, he and Patrick, who are both based in South Africa, where Silas works as a filmmaker, recently tied the knot in a ceremony that was a long time coming.
‘I met and married someone just under a year ago. He’s got all the things, kindness, courage, honesty, but why all this is fine, that is not why I married him,’ Silas said in an interview.
He further revealed that neither he nor Patrick believed in marriage initially, but after months of exploring options for companionship, they decided to go for it.
‘We maintain an ethically polyamorous situation because monogamy gives us both migraines. That being said, Patrick Miami (yes, he took my name) is my primary life partner and I’m proud to be his,’ Silas proudly stated.
It is worth noting that gay marriage is not legal in Kenya, and President Uhuru Kenyatta has previously stated that the country has other priorities other than discussing same-sex marriages.
