This archive report was first published on 21 June 2020.

On Saturday night, residents of Kirinyaga woke up to find anti-Waiguru leaflets on their doorsteps, urging them to join in the efforts to kick out the embattled governor, Anne Waiguru.

Clearly printed 'Waiguru must go', the leaflets called for residents to participate in demonstrations on Monday, 22 June 2020, to pile pressure on Waiguru.

According to Kirinyaga county commissioner Jim Njoka, investigations have been launched into the matter, with residents suspecting that the leaflets are part of anti-Waiguru propaganda linked to her impeachment.

Waiguru was impeached by the Kirinyaga County Assembly on 09 June 2020 on allegations of abuse of office and corruption.

Residents expressed shock at finding the leaflets on their doorsteps, with one resident stating, 'We don’t know who is the author but we suspect it is propaganda on Waiguru impeachment…Some People were shocked to find them on their doorstep.'
