On Monday, Jubilee MPs will gather at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre for a crucial Parliamentary Group meeting, convened by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to insider sources, the removal of Majority Leader Aden Duale may be on the agenda, a move that could see the Garissa Town MP, a key ally of Deputy President William Ruto, face disciplinary action.
David Murathe, the Jubilee Party Vice-Chairman, has warned MPs against skipping the meeting, stating that those who disobey will face disciplinary action.
"In the recent past, we have witnessed a lot of disloyalty, insubordination, impunity, disobedience and direct insults to our party leader. That must come to an end," Murathe said in a Facebook post.
Already, Kieni MP Kanini Kega and several colleagues had signed a petition against the leadership of Duale, with 126 out of 179 Jubilee MPs supporting the move.
Amos Kimunya, the new Jubilee Coalition Secretary, has also weighed in on the matter, stating that Duale should have resigned from his post instead of facing an embarrassing ouster.
Monday's meeting will be held at 9 am, and it remains to be seen whether Duale will be removed from his position or if other changes will be made to the party's leadership.
