As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the world, Kenyan athletes are facing unprecedented challenges. With sporting competitions halted since March this year, many have been left without a means of livelihood.

According to Athletics Kenya, the national body has been touring the country to support these athletes during these tough times. Officer in charge of youth development, Bernabas Korir, recently visited Embu and challenged upcoming athletes to take education seriously, despite their talents.

Eastern and Coastal regions, which had not yet received support, were among the areas visited by Athletics Kenya. The support comes after athletes from the region called for help due to the COVID-19 effects and floods that damaged their crops following heavy rains.

As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how Kenyan athletes will adapt to these new challenges. However, one thing is clear: education will play a crucial role in their future success.
