On Saturday, June 20, a suspected bomb exploded in a field in Magadi, Kajiado County, leaving one person dead and several others injured.
According to a report filed at Magadi Police Station, 62-year-old Tipango Nkiyiaa and his family members were taking their animals to Lenturume village for grazing when the explosion occurred.
Police say the explosion occurred when an animal stepped on the explosive bomb at a field used for training.
Security agencies led by Magadi OCS together with General Service Unit (GSU) officers rushed to the scene and found the 11-year-old had succumbed to his injuries, while the 15-year-old had sustained injuries.
The injured were rushed to Magadi hospital, where they are in serious but stable condition.
Police have launched investigations to determine the circumstances under which the explosive ended up at the field.
