US President Donald Trump has been defending his awkward walk down a ramp at West Point military academy, which sparked concerns about his health.
On Saturday, Trump gave a lengthy explanation of the incident, telling the Wall Street Journal that the ramp was 'like an ice skating rink' and that he wore leather-soled shoes, which made the ramp slippery.
He also claimed that he 'ran down the rest' of the way, despite footage showing him slowly walking the entire distance.
Trump's walk down the ramp was widely criticized, with some speculating that he may have Parkinson's disease.
He said that First Lady Melania Trump then told him, 'They mention the fact that you may have Parkinson's disease.'
Trump also defended his difficulty drinking a glass of water at his West Point speech, using both hands to help him raise water to his mouth.
He said that he couldn't lift the water after saluting dozens of times.
Trump's defense of his ramp walk comes as he faces criticism over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and ongoing unrest and demonstrations against police killings.
His campaign's anticipated return to rallies, which he hasn't held since 2 March, has been met with skepticism.
