Kenya's Covid-19 Cases Rise to 4,738 in 100 Days

On June 21, 2020, Kenya marked 100 days since the first case of Covid-19 was reported in the country. The milestone coincided with a significant increase in infections, with 260 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 4,738.

Of the new cases, 254 were Kenyan citizens and six were foreigners, with 176 males and 84 females affected. The breakdown by county showed that Nairobi accounted for 157 cases, Mombasa 43, and Kwale 15.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced the new cases during a daily briefing to the media. He revealed that the youngest case was a seven-month-old baby, while the oldest was a 90-year-old.

Additionally, Kagwe reported that 21 more patients had been discharged from various testing facilities across the country, while two fatalities had been recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 123.
