June 21, 2020, marked a significant day for Silas Miami, the son of renowned TV anchor Louis Otieno, as he publicly came out as gay and revealed his marriage to his partner, Patrick Miami, in South Africa.

On Facebook, Silas introduced his partner, Patrick, who took his last name, stating that he was aware his post would spark criticism but was ready to face it.

"I met and married someone just under a year ago. He's got all the things: Kindness, courage, honesty, etc. While all this is all fine and great, that's not why I married him," Silas wrote in part.

He further explained that neither he nor his partner believed in marriage but decided to settle on it as a form of companionship, maintaining an ethically polyamorous situation due to their migraines from monogamy.

Notably, Silas had previously spoken about his relationship with his father in an interview last year, stating that they had a cordial relationship despite not communicating regularly.
