On June 20, 2020, police in Kisii County made a shocking discovery at Ogembo, where they arrested 38 teenagers, including 34 boys and four girls, who were caught engaging in party activities.
According to County Commander Jabel Munene, at least 14 used condoms were found in the room, along with various alcohol brands, including illicit brew chang'aa.
The 38 teenagers, aged between 14-20 years, have been taken to Kisii School pre-quarantine centre for a 14-day forced quarantine period.
Kisii County Public Health Director Dr. Richard Onkware emphasized the importance of adhering to COVID-19 guidelines, stating, "We will not take chances. Our county surveillance teams will do everything possible to ensure that we have reduced COVID-19 infections by adhering to all the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health."
Children Welfare officer Joel Machuka also called for stringent measures to curb indiscipline among school children during the pandemic.
