As Father's Day approaches on June 21, 2020, TUKO.co.ke conducted an online poll to gauge Kenyans' perception of their presidents. The poll, which ran from June 18 to 20, 2020, attracted 2,200 respondents.

Interestingly, 82% of the respondents admired the regime of retired President Daniel Moi and recognized him as the true father of the nation. In contrast, only 18% of the respondents recognized President Uhuru Kenyatta as a befitting father of the nation.

Respondents praised Moi for being firmly on the ground, understanding the needs and expectations of most Kenyans, and being more decisive in dealing with issues. They also felt that Moi was more in touch with the people compared to Uhuru.

When asked to choose the best leader among the four Kenyan presidents, Kenyans overwhelmingly voted for retired President Mwai Kibaki. Respondents praised Kibaki for his economic empowerment of the nation, astute leadership, and fair distribution of resources.

They also commended Kibaki for getting his priorities right, especially in deciding which projects to undertake. The poll results reflect Kenyans' perception of their presidents and the qualities they value in a leader.
