104 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Kenya, Including a Year-old Child

On June 20, 2020, the Ministry of Health in Kenya reported 104 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of reported infections to 4,478 since March.

The new cases were detected from 2,820 samples analyzed in a 24-hour period, with men accounting for most cases at 76, according to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman.

The cases are distributed across various counties, including Nairobi (60), Mombasa (33), Kilifi (5), Busia (3), Kajiado (2), and Taita Taveta (1).

Breakdown of cases by county:

  • Nairobi: 60 cases, with 22 in Langata, 19 in Kibra, 11 in Westlands, 3 in Starehe, 2 in Dagoretti North, 1 in Embakasi South, 1 in Kasarani, and 1 in Embakasi East.
  • Mombasa: 33 cases, with 13 in Changamwe, 8 in Mvita, 5 in Kisauni, 4 in Jomvu, 2 in Likoni, and 1 in Nyali.
  • Kilifi: 5 cases, all reported in Rabai.
  • Busia: 3 cases, with 2 in Matayos and 1 in Teso South.
  • Kajiado: 2 cases, both reported from Loitoktok.
  • Taita Taveta: 1 case, registered in Taveta.

As of June 20, 2020, a total of 136,361 coronavirus samples have been tested in the country, with 121 COVID-19-related deaths reported and 1,586 patients discharged after recovering from the disease.
