On Saturday, June 20, 2020, police in Mandera made a significant bust, arresting two individuals in possession of 130 Kgs of bhang worth Sh. 800,000.

According to Mandera East Sub County Police Commander Richard Ngetich, the cannabis sativa was seized by Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers in Mandera town, who also established that it was from Moyale.

Commander Ngetich warned that drug abuse has been on the rise in the region, ruining the lives of youths. He advised them to shun the vice, as it was ruining their future.

North Eastern Regional Coordinator Nicodemus Ndalana also echoed the warning, stating that the use of bhang was on the rise in the region. He added that the drug was even being fed to donkeys to make them work harder.
