Kenya Records 104 New COVID-19 Cases, Total Rises to 4,478 ¶
Kenya has confirmed 104 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 4,478. The new cases were detected from 2,820 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
According to Health CAS Rashid Aman, the cases were distributed as follows: Nairobi (60), Mombasa (33), Kilifi (five), Busia (three), Kajiado (two), and Taita Taveta (one).
Of the total infections, 76 were male while 28 were female, with all the cases involving Kenyans. The youngest case was one-year-old, while the oldest was 76.
As of Saturday, June 20, COVID-19 had infected over 8.8 million people worldwide, with 4.6 million having recovered and more than 463,000 having lost their lives.
Health CAS Rashid Aman warned that the Ministry of Health understood some Kenyans were tired of curfew and cessation of movement but they could not relax the measures yet as the cases were skyrocketing.
"We do understand the containment measures and restrictions put in place are burdensome and difficult to bear at times but we cannot relent and we must put up with this so that we can be able to manage the spread of the virus," he warned.
