On June 19, 2020, a deadly gang fight erupted in Nakuru's low-income estates, leaving one person dead and another injured.
The violence, which occurred in the Flamingo, Kwa Rhonda, and Kivumbini estates, was sparked by a dispute between members of the 'Confirm gang'.
Nakuru County Commandant Stanley Kilonzi confirmed that gang members from Kwa Rhonda raided their colleagues in Flamingo, resulting in the stabbing death of Alphonse Ogae Ougo.
"They stabbed one of their members to death while another one was seriously injured and is admitted at the Nakuru County Referral Hospital," Kilonzi said.
The police boss added that the gangsters also torched two houses in the ensuing chaos.
Residents in the three estates are living in fear of retaliatory attacks, and a contingent of police officers has been deployed to avert revenge attacks.
