June 20, 2020 - The National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale's tenure is under threat as the Jubilee Party considers ousting him from the powerful position he has held since 2013.
According to Jubilee Party Vice Chairperson David Murathe, who spoke on Citizen TV on June 19, Duale has fallen out with the majority of party members, making it difficult for him to continue as Majority Leader.
"If you fall out with the majority of members of the party, then you have no business calling yourself a Majority Leader," Murathe said, adding that the President had skipped Duale's name during a recent meeting at State House.
The ongoing Jubilee party purge has widened the rift in the party, with members aligned to Deputy President William Ruto accusing the party of trying to ensure that Ruto does not become the next President of Kenya.
