Published on June 20, 2020, thousands of protesters in Bamako's Independence square are demanding the resignation of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta.
The protests, called by influential Imam Mahmoud Dicko, are a response to the escalating jihadist and inter-communal violence in the country.
Mr. Dicko, who leads a newly formed coalition of opposition groups, is calling for political and economic reform, as well as an end to corruption.
Despite President Keïta's pledge to form a new unity government including opposition members, protesters remain unsatisfied.
