German Government Boosts Kenya's COVID-19 Fight with PPE Donation

On June 20, 2020, the Federal Republic of Germany made a significant contribution to Kenya's COVID-19 fight by donating Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) worth Ksh 10.8 million to agencies operating at One-Stop Border Points (OSPBs).

The donation includes facemasks, sanitizers, and civic booklets printed with public health information to educate Kenyans on protecting themselves from COVID-19.

Ministry of EAC Principal Secretary Dr. Kevit Desai received the equipment and acknowledged the disruption caused by COVID-19 to normal business routines. He commended the FRG donation for arriving at a critical time.

Dr. Desai emphasized the need for more support as Kenya faces challenges due to the surge in COVID-19 cases. He stated that the donation will help meet the WHO set guidelines in dealing with the Coronavirus.

German Ambassador to Kenya Annett Gunther expressed her country's commitment to supporting Kenyan solutions to the pandemic, protecting Kenyan jobs, and ensuring the health of the Kenyan people and essential staff.

Kenya Revenue Authority Commissioner General Mr. James Githii Mburu assured that KRA has established safety measures to facilitate its services to the public, including along borders.
