On June 19, 2020, Nairobi County Police Commander Philip Ndolo confirmed that three key police officers involved in contact tracing had tested positive for COVID-19.

The officers, who were instrumental in the ongoing contact-tracing efforts, were found to have contracted the virus after undergoing a check-up and were subsequently isolated at Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital.

According to Commander Ndolo, the first two officers were isolated at Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital, where they are being monitored, while the third officer voluntarily went to Mbagathi Hospital to confirm his status and was also isolated at the same facility.

As a precautionary measure, the families of the affected officers have been placed under mandatory self-quarantine at their residences.

Commander Ndolo has also clarified that the three officers were not attached to the Kamukunji police station, but were stationed in different stations.
