NSE Turnover Rises 83% to KSh936 Million

On Friday, 19th June 2020, the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) witnessed a significant surge in trading activity, with a remarkable 83% increase in turnover to KSh936.86 million from the previous day's KSh512 million.

Over 41.8 million shares were traded in 1274 transactions, marking a substantial boost in market activity.

Safaricom emerged as the top mover of the day, with 11.89 million shares traded, closing at KSh30.90. Other notable movers included Absa (9.2 million), Equity Group (6.16 million), and Kenya Power (4.93 million).

Express Kenya and Eveready led the top gainers, with share price appreciations of 9.8% and 8.91%, respectively. Britam Holdings also made significant gains, closing at KSh8.46 with a 6.28% increase, while Centum Investment closed with a 2.94% appreciation to KSh26.30 per share.

However, the NSE also saw 21 equities lose share price value, with I&M Holdings being the top loser, experiencing an 8.10% depreciation to close at KSh48.25 per share.

On the secondary bond market, bonds worth KSh2.27 billion were traded, while the derivatives market saw only one Safaricom contract traded, valued at KSh28,500.
