On June 20, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta concluded his fumigation mission in the Jubilee party, resulting in the ousting of several leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto from top leadership positions.

Despite National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale surviving the purge, many Jubilee MPs believe he would hinder the government's business in the house, derailing President Kenyatta's development agendas.

According to sources, President Kenyatta had reservations about Duale, who has a reputation for pushing the President's agendas in the house. However, the President left Duale's fate in the hands of National Assembly Members, who collected over 130 signatures before submitting them to the Party leader.

A source revealed that President Kenyatta made a final ruling to remove Duale, which would be conveyed on Monday in a virtual Parliamentary Group meeting.

"The purge is on. The party leader has convened another PG on Monday, where Mr. Duale will be shown the door," the source stated.
