Kenya Airways has scheduled a special flight to evacuate stranded Kenyans from India, with the plane set to depart Mumbai on June 23, 2020, at 0900 hours.

The flight, KQ 224, is expected to arrive in Nairobi at 1245 hours, bringing home citizens who were left stranded in India and other countries following the cancellation of international flights in March.

According to a notice by the Kenyan High Commission in India, the stranded citizens will be airlifted to Kenya at their own cost and under strict conditions.

Stranded Kenyans will be required to pay between Sh67,500 for an Economy Class ticket and Sh95,000 for Business Class ticket for the journey back home.

Some of the Kenyans welcomed the move, but expressed concern over the high fares, which they described as "exorbitant at a time they need help and mercy from the State".
