On June 18, 2020, during a webinar hosted by the Atlantic Council, President Uhuru Kenyatta was asked to name his favorite Kenyan-made beer brand.

White Cap and Tusker Lager, both products of East African Breweries Limited (EABL), are brewed in Ruaraka from locally-sourced barley.

When posed with the question, Uhuru smiled and said, "Without a doubt Tusker goes first but don't tell Kenya Breweries that."

Katrina Manson, the moderator, asked: “I want to offer just one question from the members of the public that has come in; which is your favorite, Tusker or White Cap?”

Tusker, introduced in 1922, is the most popular beer brand in Africa, with over 700,000 hectoliters being sold in Kenya annually.

White Cap Lager, on the other hand, is a pale lager that depicts the snow-capped peak of Mount Kenya and is reportedly a favorite of former president Mwai Kibaki.
