On June 16, 2020, a remarkable medical feat was achieved at the Hubei Maternal and Child Healthcare Hospital in central China. A 41-year-old woman, identified as Ms Wang, gave birth to a baby boy from an embryo frozen for 10 years.

According to medical records, Ms Wang had sought help from fertility specialists in 2009 after she was unable to conceive for five years. A doctor cultivated a batch of embryos using the same sperm and eggs, with one implanted immediately and the rest frozen.

Ms Wang gave birth to her first baby boy in June 2010, and 10 years later, she welcomed her second baby boy at the same hospital. The birth of the twins has sparked interest in the medical community, with Dr. Zheng Jie from the hospital's fertility centre stating, "From a medical perspective, Lu Lu and Tong Tong are twin brothers."
