On his 21st marriage anniversary, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko shared a heartwarming message to young couples in Kenya, urging them to emulate the late Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza and his wife, Denise, who remained together despite living in a small house.
Published on June 19, 2020, Sonko's post highlighted the importance of patience and support in marriage, citing his own experiences and those of other notable Kenyan men, including President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto.
"Ladies, be patient with your man as he hustles. Stick by him, support him as much as possible," Sonko advised. "Respect your girlfriend/wife. Unaweza lala njaa siku kadha….. Do not leave him because he is broke or in prison."
He also shared stories of how his wife, Primrose, and other notable Kenyan women, including Ida Odinga and Rachel Ruto, stood by their husbands despite the challenges they faced.
"When Raila Odinga was in detention Ida Odinga didn’t dump him, also when I was in Prison my wife Primrose never left me," Sonko stated.
