Published on June 19, 2020, Chief Justice David Maraga has suspended all Mombasa open court activities following the positive COVID-19 test results of 11 staff members.
The 11 staff members are part of the 117 cases announced by Health CAS Rashid Aman on Friday.
According to a statement from the CJ's office, the affected staff include Judiciary officers and registry staff, with their primary contacts totaling 118 officers now required to go into self-quarantine.
Chief Justice Maraga noted that the affected courts are the Main Court Building, the City Court, and the Tononoka Children's Court.
Despite the suspension, online and other virtual services will be available to court users where possible.
The suspension comes barely a week after the courts were reopened following their closure on March 24 this year.
