Kenya has seen a significant increase in COVID-19 cases, with 117 new cases reported on June 19, 2020, bringing the total number of cases to 4,374.
Health Cabinet Secretary Rashid Aman has blamed youths in high-risk areas of Nairobi for the recent spike in COVID-19 cases.
Aman stated that the youths have been organizing parties in areas such as Westlands, Lavington, Kileleshwa, and Hurlingham, which has led to the spread of the virus.
Despite the government's ban on gatherings, the youths have continued to hold parties, putting themselves and others at risk of contracting the virus.
Aman urged Kenyans to take personal responsibility in following the government's guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
"I want to remind Kenyans that all gatherings have been banned as a measure to combat COVID-19," Aman said.
"I urge everyone to take personal responsibility in following the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health, as it will be difficult to combat the virus without individual effort," he added.
