On June 19, 2020, Nairobi recorded a worrying rise in Covid-19 cases, with Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman pointing to house parties in suburbs as the main cause.
According to Aman, suburbs such as Westlands, Hurlingham, Lavington, and Kileleshwa have seen instances of youths organizing parties, thereby increasing the risk of spreading the virus.
Aman called for discipline, emphasizing that the city was not yet back to normalcy and that residents should not behave as if they were.
Some of the areas with notable cases include Kibra and Langata, each with eight cases, while Makadara and Dagoretti North had six cases each.
