On June 10th, President Uhuru Kenyatta chaired an extraordinary summit at the State House, attended by Deputy President William Ruto and other county chiefs. The meeting was part of a series of gatherings that have raised concerns about the spread of the novel coronavirus.
According to reports, the Ministry of Health officials have embarked on a complex mission to trace the governors and 66 people who came into contact with 16 State House employees who tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.
As part of the tracing efforts, the officials have advised all individuals who visited the State House last week, including governors, to undergo the Covid-19 test to establish their status.
It emerged that President Uhuru had called off another meeting with the county chiefs over the coronavirus scare, citing the need to prioritize public health and safety.
The President and his family had been confirmed negative after tests, but it was not clear whether Deputy President Ruto had also taken the Covid-19 test following these revelations.
