On June 18, 2020, Deputy President William Ruto unveiled a new office, Jubilee Asili Centre, in Nairobi's Kilimani area, sparking controversy within the Jubilee Party.
According to Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, the creation of Jubilee Asili Center was a response to the exclusion of certain party leaders from the party's headquarters on Thika Road.
Speaking on her official Facebook page on June 19, 2020, Kihika stated: “We agreed as Jubilee leaders to establish Jubilee Asili Center, a meeting point for members who feel disenfranchised after a few mandarins blocked us from accessing our Party Office on Thika Road. At this Center we shall continue promoting the original ideas of our Jubilee Party.”
Twenty Jubilee MPs, including those removed from Senate leadership and National Assembly committees, attended the unveiling of the new office, which is located on Makindu Road, off Riara Road.
Registrar of Political Parties, Anne Nderitu, clarified that no one has approached her office seeking to register Jubilee Asili as a political outfit.
